We only carry the finest in quality: When it comes to our Cedar Chips and Hog Fuels, we do not add chemicals, perfumes or color. As far as the Cedar Chips, it comes directly from the local mills where it is made from cedar trees that are chipped up. Some of the hog fuels are made from fir only or a mix of other woods. No old growth trees are killed in the making of these products.

The Cedar Chips will definitely protect your children from harm if installed appropriately. It is recommended by most institutions that you install up to 9 inches of play chips in depth around play systems.

The Hog Fuels that are made for ground cover are sure to add warmth and presence to the appearance of your landscape while also insulating your plant roots in the cold as well as holding moisture in during the hot days of August. If doing large projects you will need to remember that material color, and sometimes overall texture, may vary throughout the seasons. If color matching of product is important to you then buy all the material you need at one time. There is no guarantee that you will be able to match color when you buy material in bulk throughout the year. How much do we deliver? As much as you need. We also offer smaller trucks for getting large volumes of soil in hard to get places. Our smaller truck single axle truck hauls up to 12 yards of compost. Our larger tandem axle truck carrys up to 22 yrds compost. We offer installation of our soils as well.

CEDAR CHIPS

This is by far our most popular item in spring time with day care centers! Spring time is usually the time of year to freshen up play areas from the damages of winter. The play chip we sell is used by several day care centers and grades schools throughout Kirkland, Bellevue and Issaquah.

Size (3 inches down to dust): Our play chip is approx. 3 inches on down to dust. Saying this chip is up to 3 inches in size does not mean there will be 3 inch diameter chunks of cedar wood. You will find our play chips on the thinner side with chips and pieces up to 3 inches in size.

Color: Our play chips are an eye pleasing tannish white in color.

Benefits: Helps to prevent injuries when being used in or around play systems.

How long will play chips last? Play chips will last up to 2 to 5 years depending on how thick you put it down and on weather conditions. The number one cause of play chip loss, next to kids throwing them out, is raking up leaves off the chipped areas. This because the chips are larger 3 inch strands that the metal or plastic rake tines will catch on when raking. If the chips are being used in high maintenance areas then you might want to consider installing a thicker layer to make it last longer.

MEDIUM RED 4 inch MINUS

HOG FUEL:

This mulch is made up entirely of fir trees that are free of disease. It is not the same as mulch dropped off by tree removal services for free. Lately, gardening clubs and homeowners have become increasingly aware that many of the trees cut down by tree removal services are diseased and that the chippings from those trees can spread the disease to other trees in gardens that receive the chipped wood.

Size: This shredded Fir Wood is 4 inches down to dust.

Benefits: Our Medium Red 4 inch minus is often sought by people who are looking for something that will last a long time. It will not have the same look as the barks do but there are many who like the look of this better.

How long will the Medium Red 4 Inch Minus last? Depending on how thick you put it down and on weather conditions. Because it is thicker, chunkier pieces of wood it will easily last up to 5 years or more in areas that are open and not being covered with leaves on a regular basis.

COARSE WOOD MULCH:

This mulch made up entirely of whole trees that have been shredded, branches, leafs, trunk and all. The trees we accept for this are are free of disease. This product is basically the same thing as animal grade hog fuel.

Size: This shredded Fir Wood is 4 inches down to dust.
